Founder Nancy Whitcraft, inspired by the American traditions of freedom and independence, has never been one to follow the flock.

In fact, she has childhood memories of bucking convention as young as four years old.

She recalls one episode when her father warned her and her four siblings to go to sleep and stop making noise. “I don’t want to hear a peep out of any of you,” he said, as he was closing the bedroom door.

As one might have guessed, Nancy couldn’t resist and let out a deafening “peep” sound. Luckily, her father saw this behavior as a sign of being independent and encouraged her pioneering spirit throughout her childhood.

With Blacksheepstyle, Nancy has created original designs and goods that speak directly to a frequently overlooked audience: fellow Black Sheep who Don’t follow the Flock and are proud of it!
